Hang the boys before Lahore Congress

Regarding the Hindutva guys celebrating Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru, I have some information to share with people (Sam may be knowing). Mahatma Gandhi had written to Lord Irwin requesting the Government 'to hang the boys (Bhagat & Co.) before Lahore Congress'. Though unjustifiable on any count, the reason for Gandhi's letter is that he could foresee Lahore Congress' resolution appealing to the Government to commute the death sentence or even set free the boys; this would obviously be an irritant in the 'full independence' talk table to which the British seem to have come around. Presumably Mahatma Gandhi had decided to sacrifice the boys in the larger interest of freedom. The Hindu Mahasabha & Co. started using this letter as one of the points of justification for the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi. Perhaps Godse himself put forth this in his defence counsel in the court which I have to check. I wish to add that ideologically Bhagat Singh was never in line with these Hindutva guys. He was a rationalist and I would even assess him as a true Marxist.
